24 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will report on the meeting in Dublin on 19 October 2001 with the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Dr. John Reid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25850/01]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 20 and 24 together.
As the House will be aware, I regularly meet the Secretary for State for Northern Ireland, Dr. John Reid, to discuss live and outstanding issues, and to take stock of developments generally. The matters raised at the meetings in question included policing, stability in the institutions, progress on the question of arms, the Criminal Justice Review and the security situation generally, including in north Belfast. On both occasions we also discussed the on-going situation around Holy Cross school in Ardoyne, and I reiterated to the Secretary of State my strong view that the loyalist protests there should end.
