Vol. 544 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

113 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the delay in a headage payment to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [29331/01]

No area aid application form was received from the named person in 2001. However, on the basis of a medical certificate submitted by the Deputy on behalf of the person my Department is prepared to allow a claim of force majeure and to accept his area aid application at this stage. A blank 2001 area aid application has now issued to the herdowner for him to complete and return to the area aid unit. No payments can issue until the area aid application has been returned and fully processed.

Seymour Crawford

Ceist:

114 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a suckler cow payment for 2000 will be received by a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29332/01]

Payment under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme will issue to the person named this week.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

115 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received area based, suckler cow and extensification payments for 2001. [29355/01]

The person named included a new plot in his 2001 area aid application which, when entered on the Department's electronic database, was seen to overlap with a parcel of land which is currently classified by my Department as commonage land. The herdowner has been written to and asked to forward legal proof of his entitlement to claim on this land and a response is awaited. The person named also applied on 30 cows and one heifer under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. Following an examination of his application it was found that two animals bearing tag numbers PJA690604 and POA840428 were showing to be invalid breeds – they were Friesian – and an animal bearing tag number PF85331 did not have a required date of last calving. Correspondence dated 14 August 2001 issued to the person named informing him of these problems. On 25 October 2001 my Department carried out an inspection on the herd of the person named and again these matters were brought to his attention.

Until the matters related to his area aid and suckler cow premium applications have been resolved no area aid related payments can issue to him. Payments of the 2001 extensification premium are not due to commence until June 2002.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

116 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will provide a breakdown of the depopulation grant payments made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29356/01]

Brucellosis reactor grants of £17,936.25 and depopulation grants of £3,000 issued to the person concerned on 5 September 2001. A further top-up payment is due to the person concerned and this amount is presently being calculated by the district veterinary office. It will issue shortly.
