Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Health Board Inquiry.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

213 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will convene an inquiry into the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if he will provide information requested by the person relating to incidents which occurred in 1981 while employed by the South-Eastern Health Board and which were refused to her under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997; and if he will ensure that all information relating to the case is made available and that the case is fully investigated. [31624/01]

I understand that the person concerned made an application to the South-Eastern Health Board for disclosure of records under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997. The board decided to give partial access to the records sought. The individual was advised that the Freedom of Information Act provides statutory rights of review and appeal. It is open to her to request an internal South-Eastern Health Board review of any initial decision under the Act and if unhappy with the outcome, she may then appeal to the Information Commissioner.
