150 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo received an increase of only 10% increase in his forestry premium payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2086/02]
The recently announced premium increases applied to those who planted between 1993 and 1999 and who did not qualify for the increases announced in March 2000. While overall increases averaged 30%, individual increases varied considerably because of a number of factors, such as land classification and categorisation. The lowest percentage increase, approximately 14%, applied in respect of afforestation on unenclosed land, such as had been undertaken by the person in question. The correct increase was paid in his case.
