Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

264 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received payment of a suckler cow grant for 2001; if his Department has received a formal appeal on this matter; and if so, when a decision can be expected on this appeal. [1048/02]

The person named applied for premium on 20 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. Following an on-farm inspection on 16 August 2001, it was found that three of these animals were absent. There is also no evidence that the three animals were in the ownership and possession of the person named at the time of application and there is no record on the CMMS database concerning the movement-death of these animals. On 21 November the applicant was informed that as a result of these findings he would be excluded from the suckler cow premium scheme for 2001. He was advised that he could appeal this decision within 21 days. To date my Department has not received any request to have this case reviewed.
