Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

281 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if an additional milk quota will be made available to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [1416/02]

The allocation of milk quota from the national reserve is granted on the basis of recommendations from the Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal. The tribunal is a body established to consider and advise on applications for additional quota from individual producers who have suffered extreme hardship as a result of the milk quota system. The closing date for receipt of applications for additional quota in respect of the 2001-02 milk quota year, which was published by way of a notice in the farming press, was 18 January 2002. If an application has been made by the person named, it will be considered by the tribunal and he will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible.
