Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Derek McDowell

Ceist:

307 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the projects under the aegis of his Department comprised in the national development plan for which funding has been provided as part of the 2002 Abridged Estimates or announced in the Budget Statement; the level of funding provided; the nature of the works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1102/02]

As I outlined in my reply of 13 December 2001 to Parliamentary Question No. 116, in the case of my Department, the 2002 Abridged Estimates provide for 669.9 million in expenditure under the national development plan. This provision relates to the various agricultural, food and related rural development measures as follows: – 545.8 million for the rural environment protection, compensatory allowances and early retirement schemes contained in the CAP rural development plan; 106.5 million for the on-farm investment, research, training, advisory and general rural development initiatives contained in various operational programmes; and 17.6m for the food-related capital investment, research and marketing initiatives contained in the productive sector operational programme.
