Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

John Bruton

Ceist:

401 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance the measures being taken for the alleviation of flooding in the Tolka River basin. [1383/02]

On 1 November 2001 Dublin Corporation, in its capacity as contracting authority for the River Tolka flood alleviation study, issued a request for proposal for the appointment of a service provider for the study. A proposal has been received from the consultants in response to the request. The proposal was made in response to a detailed brief, setting out the requirements of the study, prepared by Dublin Corporation in association with the Office of Public Works, Meath County Council and Fingal County Council. Detailed consideration of the proposal and negotiations with the consultants are in progress and it is expected that the study will commence around the end of January or in early February 2002. Funding for the study will be provided from the Vote of the Office of Public Works. The study is due to be completed before the end of 2002. No decision on the works to be undertaken can be made until the study is completed and the findings analysed.
