468 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children the input he is making to the Barcelona Summit in March 2002 on orientations in the field of health care and care for the elderly; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1065/02]
As required by the European Council meeting in Gothenburg in June 2001, the Social Protection Committee of the Council is preparing a report based on a communication from the Commission, dated 5 December 2001 and entitled "The future of health care and care of the elderly: guaranteeing accessibility, quality and financial viability". This report is part of the Lisbon process which has the objective of improving the social protection system in the EU. My Department will be making its contribution in relation to this report through the Social Protection Committee.
