Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cancer Treatment Services.

Jan O'Sullivan

Ceist:

530 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health and Children when he expects to receive a final report from the national expert group on development of radiotherapy services; the reason this group has not met with the Mid-Western Health Board to address the region's needs; if radiotherapy services will be provided in the mid-west in 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1536/02]

Jan O'Sullivan

Ceist:

675 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health and Children when he expects the expert working group on the development of radiotherapy services to report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2615/02]

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

700 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of meetings which are scheduled for the expert group on the development of radiotherapy services; the dates for these meetings; when the report on their recommendations is to be presented to the Minister; if he will publish the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2831/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 530, 675 and 700 together.

The expert working group on radiotherapy services will be meeting in February to finalise its report. I am expecting that their report will be submitted to me shortly thereafter. I am not in a position to comment on the timeframe for the provision of radiotherapy services in any area of the country prior to consideration of the report.

I have been advised that the expert group is affording all health boards, including the Mid-Western Health Board, the opportunity to meet with the group.

Question No. 531 answered with Question No. 502.
