608 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for a cataract operation. [2110/02]

The provision of medical services in this instance is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

609 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the average weekly cost of keeping a long-stay patient in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Castlebar, County Mayo. [2111/02]

The provision of health services in Castlebar is, in the first instance, the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has made inquiries of the board regarding this matter and has been advised that the average estimated weekly cost of keeping a long-stay patient in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Castlebar is 514.00 or £405.
