656 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo must wait until the end of June 2002 before being called for an assessment for a knee operation; his views on whether this is a reasonable length of time to wait; if he will investigate this matter; and if this person's assessment will be expedited. The provision of medical services in this instance is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
