Ceist:

742 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, further to his recent visit to Knockmay housing estate and the Harpurs Lane area of Portlaoise, he will confirm that appropriate and sufficient funding has been made available; if this has been confirmed to Laois County Council in writing by his Department; and if the flood relief work will proceed in the spring of 2002. Approval to contract documents for interim-advance works under the Portlaoise main drainage scheme, including works to alleviate flooding in the Knockmay and Harpurs Lane areas of Portlaoise, has been formally conveyed to Laois County Council by my Department. It is now a matter for Laois County Council to invite tenders for the works.
