Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

775 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the delay surrounding commencement of sewerage works at Ballyroan, County Laois; and if having regard to the circumstances surrounding the matter, the commencement will be expedited. [2161/02]

Sean Fleming

Ceist:

798 Mr. Fleming asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the technical report submitted by Laois County Council to his Department in respect of the Ballyroan sewerage scheme has been considered; and when the local authority will be able to proceed with the scheme. [2555/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 757, 775 and 798 together.

This scheme has been approved for funding under the rural towns and villages initiative. Laois County Council has recently submitted the technical report requested by my Department in relation to proposed amendments to the scheme involving extension of the sewer network and relocation of the treatment plant. This report, and the council's tender recommendations for the civil works and the mechanical and electrical element of the scheme, are under consideration in the Department. They will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
