Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

772 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when finance will be made available under the EU co-financing scheme for the inner relief road for Graiguenmanagh, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2062/02]

Kilkenny County Council's non-national road grant allocation for 2002 is 10.521 million, an increase of 26% on the 2001 payment and 92% on the 1997 payment. Included in the 2002 allocation is an allocation of 2.667 million for the R693 Threecastles – Campions Bend – scheme, which was the only scheme submitted by Kilkenny County Council for consideration under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme in 2002. However, my Department recently conveyed approval to Kilkenny County Council's request to appoint consultants for the public consultation, site investigation, CPO, detailed design and tender documentation for the proposed Graiguenamanagh relief road scheme. The consultants' costs will be acceptable as a charge against a 2003 or subsequent specific grant in the event that the Graiguenamanagh relief road scheme is selected, in 2003 or subsequently, for grant aid.
