1011 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the requests made to the Garda Commissioner since 1990 from chief superintendents for the provision of new district Garda headquarters; the stations which will be opened on a 24 hour basis; the stations which will remain as normal Garda stations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2465/02]
I am informed by the Garda authorities that, since 1990, one submission was received from a chief superintendent proposing the establishment of a new Garda district. As a consequence, the district of Ashbourne was established on 1 July 1998.
All Garda district headquarters stations are open on a 24 hour basis. I refer the Deputy to my answer to Question No. 396 on 23 October 2001, which lists all of these stations.
