1014 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will request the gardaí at Clontarf, Dublin 3, to take ongoing and effective measures to deal with anti-social behaviour by gangs of youths drinking alcohol at a location (details supplied) in Dublin 3; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2492/02]
I am informed by Garda authorities that this matter is being addressed by local Garda management who have put in place measures to deal with this problem. As a result of this initiative, over 20 youths have been arrested for public order offences. I understand that most of the arrested youths are local residents.
I have also been informed that the juvenile liaison officer at Clontarf has contacted the local schools and parents in an effort to resolve this problem.
