Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

1023 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the extent to which he proposes to increase policing levels throughout the various towns and villages in north Kildare; if he has received submissions for such increases; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2668/02]

I am informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources to individual areas, that Garda stations in the north Kildare area fall within three Garda divisions. Maynooth and Celbridge Garda stations are in the division of Carlow-Kildare, Kilcock Garda station is in the division of Louth-Meath and Leixlip Garda station is in the division of the DMA west.

I am further informed that local Garda management are satisfied that the current personnel strength in the north Kildare area is adequate to meet its present policing needs.
