Ceist:1091 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress to date on the application for funding by Carlow Regional Youth Service to develop a central youth facility in Carlow. [2824/02]

My Department received a request from Carlow Youth Services for financial assistance in 2001 to establish a youth information centre in Carlow and the expansion of youth work provision in the Carlow region. Due to the large number of existing commitments in the youth sector in 2001 it was not possible to accede to these requests. However, application forms for the year 2002 have already issued to all administering agencies and it will be open to Carlow Regional Youth Service to re-apply this year. Every consideration will be given to these applications in the light of available financial resources.
