Ceist:1174 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction resource support for a school (details supplied) in County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1528/02]
Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.
In August 2001, my Department sanctioned a resource teaching post to cater for a number of children with special needs in the school in question and in three other schools in the area. The resource teacher is based in the school mentioned by the Deputy.
In January 2002 my Department approved resource teacher support for two additional pupils attending the school in question. A review of the resource teacher's case-load at that time indicated that the needs of the two additional children could be met by the existing resource teacher.
