Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

1182 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if consideration will be given to a proposal by the authorities at St. Patrick's Community College at Limerick Road, Naas, County Kildare to relocate to a new site locally; his preferred options in regard to the schedule of facilities to be provided; if such works will be undertaken solely by his Department or by way of public-private partnership; when he will be in a position to advance the proposals; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1603/02]

The proposal submitted by the chief executive officer of County Kildare VEC. to relocate the St. Patrick's community college to a new site, including the possible sale of the existing school is currently being considered by my Department's post primary building and administration units.

All possible options are being considered by my Department. However, in order to progress this matter further a number of issues must be resolved.

A letter has recently issued to the chief executive officer in relation to these issues and following receipt of the relevant information the options will be further considered. The Deputy will therefore appreciate that it is too early in the process to consider if this project is suitable for inclusion in any new round of projects to be provided by way of public private partnership.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

1183 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will reply further to Parliamentary Question No. 990 of 3 October 2001 in relation to the sports hall at Collinstown Park community college. [1604/02]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that architectural planning on this sports hall is almost at completion.
