Ceist:

1184 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science if the circular authorising implementation of the revised criteria for the award of incremental credit in respect of previous teaching service has been issued by his Department; when a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will receive an appropriate upgrade in salary; when this person will receive arrears of salary increase from 1 August 1997; if this person qualifies for the award of further incremental credit; if interest on the outstanding entitlement will be paid to this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Discussions between my Department and the teacher representative bodies on the arrangements for the implementation of changes to the scheme for the award of incremental credit to teachers are still ongoing. On completion of these discussions, the agreed arrangements for the implementation of the revised scheme will be published by circular letter to all school authorities and will be applied to all eligible teachers.
