Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Public Capital Programme.

John Bruton

Ceist:

1274 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if in the past three months, he has decided to move aspects of the public capital programme expenditure of his Department into a public private partnership provision; if so, his plans in this regard; the reasons for the decision; and the implications of this decision for the categorisation of the expenditure in question under the Stability and Growth Pact of Ireland for participation in the European single currency. [2220/02]

My Department's current public private partnership pilot programme, which has been under way for some time, consists of a bundle of five post-primary schools, a new Cork school of music and a new national maritime college. The post-primary schools are currently under construction and the procurement process is well advanced on the other two projects.

My Department is currently at the early stages of considering further projects under the PPP process and no new additional projects have been added to the pilot programme in the last three months.
