Written Answers. - Electricity Generation.
Questions on the fuel types used in the generation of electricity are matters for the ESB and other generators and I therefore have no function in the matter.
The introduction of other instruments, as mentioned in the National Climate Change Strategy, which will support the ceasing of coal-firing at Moneypoint, such as emissions trading and greenhouse gas taxation, are not matters for my Department.
Clearly the ESB will have to take into account the economic environment created by such instruments in making any long-term decisions about Moneypoint.
