Ceist:199 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money which accrued to the Exchequer from VAT on new houses in 1999, 2000 and 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3277/02]

The estimated VAT yield from new housing in the years 1999, 2000 and 2001 is set out in the following table. All these figures are estimates since VAT returns are not required to be compiled in a manner which identifies the yield from particular goods or services. The 2001 figures are based on projections of new house and apartment construction supplied by the Department of the Environment and Local Government.
