Vol. 547 No. 3

Written Answers. - Health Board Appointments.

Rory O'Hanlon

Ceist:

233 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Health and Children the health boards or chief executive officers which have a medical adviser; the nature of the appointment; the term of appointment; the function and conditions of service; the numbers who are hospital consultants; if the latter are involved in the provision of services between their own and other hospitals in the region; the steps which are taken to ensure no conflict of interest; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3428/02]

As the information requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department, I have asked the chief executive officer of each health board and of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate the matter and to provide details where relevant. I will respond to the Deputy as soon as this information becomes available.
