Ceist:

268 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received an application from Meath County Council regarding funding for a sewerage scheme (details supplied) in County Meath; his plans to allocate funds for this scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3264/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 266 to 268, inclusive, together.

I approved sewerage schemes for Athboy, Kilmainhamwood and Moynalty in the water services investment programme, 2000-2002, which I announced in July 2000. In November 2001, I approved proposals for the procurement of these three schemes, together with the upgrading of sewerage facilities in Summerhill, Duleek, Rathcairn and Rathmolyon as a single design/build/operate contract with the objective of accelerating the commencement of work in all seven locations. Procurement of the works by this route will be more efficient than advancing each scheme separately. It will promote innovation in design and construction and economies of scale in capital and operating costs.
Meath County Council is currently in the process of appointing consultants to draw up tender documents for submission to my Department for approval as soon as possible.
