278 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, in respect of the commitment in the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness to an electoral participation initiative, he will indicate the provision which has been made in his Department to assist implementation of this initiative; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Question No. 26 of 6 December 2001.

As part of the PPF initiative, amounts of €84,352 and €151,370 were paid in 2000 and 2001 respectively, on extended publicity campaigns to promote voter registration. Expenditure of €150,000 is anticipated in 2002.
