138 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the value and volume of exports in each of the past 12 months; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3622/02]

Export statistics for November and December 2001 are not available at present. Preliminary figures from the CSO indicate that the value of exports in November 2001 was €7.55 billion.
The value of exports in the period January to October 2001 was 14% higher than the corresponding period in 2000.

The latest trade statistics cover the period January to October 2001. The value of imports for this period totalled €47.7 billion and the volume of imports totalled 25,127,486 tonnes, representing an increase of 4.9% on the same period in 2000.
