Vol. 548 No. 3

Written Answers. - Drainage Schemes.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

150 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance his plans for the Office of Public Works to carry out works in north County Cork to help alleviate problems which have arisen (details supplied). [4985/02]

The weir referred to is not part of any drainage scheme for which the Commissioners of Public Works have a responsibility under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. The weir may be part of the Awbeg drainage district for which the local authority has a maintenance responsibility. The commissioners will bring the matter to the attention of the local authority.

Ceist:

151 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when a decision will be made on tenders which have been submitted in respect of works to prevent further flooding of the River Blackwater in Fermoy, County Cork. [4987/02]

All tenders for the provision of engineering consultancy services in respect of the Munster Blackwater – Fermoy drainage scheme have now been carefully examined and assessed and it is expected that a contract will be placed within the next two weeks.
