Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Expenditure.

Michael Moynihan

Ceist:

145 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Defence the funding allocated each year from 1995 to 2001 by his Department for Cork north west; the specific project investments; and the major developments which began or major service improvements which were funded as a result of an increase in funding in each of these years. [8065/02]

Money is not allocated by my Department on a constituency basis but on priority projects relevant to the needs of the Defence Forces. From 1995 to 2001 approximately €185 million has been expended on capital and maintenance works in military posts. Furthermore over €50 million has been provided in this year's Estimates for a continuation of the building programme.

Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

146 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the amount of capital expenditure on infrastructural projects by his Department in the BMW region since its establishment to date; the projects funded; the amount of capital expenditure on infrastructural projects in the rest of the country in the same timeframe; and the projects funded. [7834/02]

The National Development Plan 2000-2006 provides a total indicative allocation of some €5.5 billion in relation to agriculture, food and related rural development. This includes indicative capital allocations of €265 million for the Border, midland and western region and €223 million for the southern and eastern region.

The following table sets out details of the capital expenditure incurred, on a regional basis, by my Department up to the end of February 2002.

This expenditure represents support for agricultural structures, alternative agricultural enterprises and general rural development. The projects supported are similar in both regions and consist mainly of capital on-farm investment.
