Ceist:

259 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the financial implications for his Department in the decision of the Medical Council to give a substantial five figure salary increase to the Registrar of the Medical Council. [7614/02]

Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin):

Under the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978, the Medical Council is an independent, self-funded body. Any decisions regarding the remuneration of its employees is a matter for the Medical Council.
