Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

295 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the University College Hospital, Galway, was forced to restrict patients to its accident and emergency department to emergency 999 calls only and to divert other cases elsewhere in one of the days in January 2002, according to the Western Health Board; and if he will investigate the matter. [7798/02]

The provision of medical services in this instance is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
