Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

354 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Health and Children his proposals to ensure that individual health boards publish their waiting lists every three months in order that information can be compared and models of better practice developed. [8232/02]

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 350, 351 and 354 together.

The number on waiting lists and the waiting times for in-patient treatment at Sligo General Hospital as at the 31 December 2001, in the format collected by my Department, are being provided separately to the Deputy.

National waiting list information is collated by my Department from data supplied by health agencies and is published on a quarterly basis. The data is broken down by the total number of adults and children waiting for procedures at hospitals within their respective areas. The published data shows a comparison with the data supplied for the previous quarter and the previous year.
The publication of waiting list data by the individual boards or agencies is a matter for those boards and agencies.
