Ceist:444 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive a ewe cull payment. [7596/02]

At the time that compensation was paid out for losses arising from de-stocking in 2001, the information made available to my Department was that the person named was in REPS. After investigation it appears that the person had made an application to the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development to join REPS but had not yet been accepted.
Accordingly, the person is entitled to compensation from my Department for losses arising from de-stocking in 2001 and a payment will issue in due course.
