Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

461 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will instruct the Land Registry Office to expedite a dealing for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and when it will be completed. [7477/02]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, that is acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the registration of Title Act, 1964. The application was lodged on 17 November 1999. Due to their complicated nature applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process.

Notices of the application were served on the next of kin of the registered owner on 20 February. If no objections are received as a result of these notices the application will receive further consideration on 21 March.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

462 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if registration of a dealing number can be expedited for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [7478/02]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application refers to a transfer for sale, lease and charge. I am further informed that queries issued to the lodging solicitors on 27 February. The application cannot proceed until these queries have been satisfactorily resolved.

The matter will be dealt with as soon as possible after a satisfactory reply has been received.
