528 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the position regarding funding for the youth recreation centre at Newtown House, Confey, Leixlip, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7903/02]
As I have already outlined to the Deputy in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 32411/01 on the same issue, an application for funding for Newtown House was made by Leixlip Youth Premises Group Limited under the 2001 sports capital programme. As the application form submitted was incomplete, my Department informed the group on 13 June 2001 that their application was unsuccessful.
The sports capital programme for 2002 was advertised on 25 and 26 November 2001 with a closing date of 4 January 2002 for the receipt of completed applications. Newtown House has not submitted an application under this programme. The 2003 sports capital programme will be advertised towards the end of this year.
