Vol. 550 No. 4

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31 dealing with two different topics. I propose to deal with these topics separately and I will call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office. In regard to the first topic, I have received notice from Deputy Gormley and I call on him to state the matter.

I wish to have the business of the House suspended under Standing Order 31 to allow the Taoiseach to address the Dáil on President Bush's war against terrorism campaign and to explain what support the Taoiseach has offered to the United States, not just in relation to the continuing war in Afghanistan but also in terms of the waging of a possible war against Iraq or any other state.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be contemplated by Standing Order 31. In regard to the second topic, I have received notice from Deputy Allen and I call on him to state the matter.

I request the suspension of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to allow a debate on the report compiled by the Attorney General on the national aquatic centre.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be in accordance with Standing Order 31.
