Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Inland Fisheries.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

289 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance the details of the purchase of the Coddington/Jack Marry stretch of the River Boyne; the person who holds the salmon fishing rights and trout fishing rights; the persons who have the right to fish on this stretch; the conditions under which they can fish; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8446/02]

The purchase of the Oldbridge Estate did include the fishing rights on the part of the River Boyne known as the Coddington/Jack Marry stretch. The Eastern Regional Fisheries Board has made a proposal to manage the fishing rights on behalf of the State. In 2001, two fishing licences were granted by the ERFB. It is intended that this arrangement will continue in 2002 at which point formal agreement will have been reached between the State and the ERFB on the future management of the fishery.
