Ceist:359 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children his plans to provide a cost of disability payment to help alleviate the financial burden on disabled persons; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8535/02]

Under a commitment in the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness an interdepartmental committee, convened under the auspices of the Department of Health and Children, is currently examining the feasibility of introducing a cost of disability payment. The feasibility of introducing such a payment will be considered when this committee has completed its deliberations and forwarded its recommendations.
