Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

381 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department will expedite an occupational therapists report in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will ensure there is no further delay in providing this report. [8729/02]

As I have previously informed the Deputy, the provision of the disabled person's grant to enable housing modifications to be made to the homes of disabled persons is entirely a matter for the Department of the Environment and Local Government and such grants are administered through the relevant local authority. Use of health board staff such as occupational therapists to provide assessments for this scheme is a matter for discussion between the relevant local auth orities and health boards. A copy of the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board for his attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
