My Department has received the audited annual accounts of the company referred to by the Deputy for the year 2000 and awaits submission of those in respect of 2001.

Ceist:557 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her Department's attention has been drawn to the fact that it is subsidising a company (details supplied) that recently made a tax settlement with the Revenue Commissioners; and her views on whether non-compliance with tax law is grounds for breach of the contract. The company to which the Deputy refers holds a current tax clearance certificate issued by the Office of the Revenue Commissioners which is valid for the period from 12 June 2001 to 12 June 2002. It is the policy of my Department to ensure that all companies in receipt of ferry subsidies are tax compliant.
