562 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim will receive compensation for destocking under the agreement in place with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development; the reason payment has not been released; if payment will be issued immediately; and if she will make a statement on the matter. According to information provided to my Department, the person mentioned is in the REPS scheme. As the ewe compensation scheme run by my Department is an alternative, rather than an addition, to REPS, no payment is due to the person in this instance.

If the person only joined REPS during 2001 he should write into Dúchas, the heritage service of my Department, confirming the date he joined REPS and my staff will examine his claim to see if he is entitled to a payment for the time he was not in REPS.
