Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Údarás na Gaeltachta.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

563 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the grant aid Údarás na Gaeltachta makes available to businesses that provide employment in a Gaeltacht area. [8527/02]

Údarás na Gaeltachta provides a range of financial incentives for new businesses which are in line with the European Regional Aid Guidelines and Training Aid Guidelines. An tÚdarás also facilitates the process whereby Gaeltacht based companies can avail of both European Union funding and other national funding such as research and technology innovations, competitive research, grants and sectoral development funds available for aquaculture and fish processing activities.

Financial packages vary in accordance with a company's particular needs and are normally based on the following incentives: feasibility study grants, research and development grants for new product or process development, employment grants, capital grants, training grants, marketing aid and share investment.

An tÚdarás may also provide factory space, craft units, or office space when required by a specific project.
