675 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the status of an application by a club (details supplied) in Dublin 11 under the sports and lottery grants; if their application will be approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9502/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 645 to 648, inclusive, 651 to 653, inclusive, 655, 661 to 669, inclusive, and 672 and 675 together.

The sports capital programme for 2002 was advertised on 25 and 26 November 2001 with a closing date of 4 January 2002 for the receipt of completed applications. In excess of 1,350 applications were received before the closing date, including one from each of the organisations in question. All applications are currently being evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria, which are outlined in the guidelines, terms and conditions of the programme. I intend to announce the grant allocations for the programme as soon as possible after the assessment process has been completed.

649 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will meet with a company (details supplied) to discuss their application for funding under the 2002 Sports Capital Programme for the Ballygar sports centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8558/02]

The sports capital programme for 2002 was advertised on 25 and 26 November 2001 with a closing date of 4 January 2002 for the receipt of completed applications. In excess of 1,350 applications were received before the closing date, including one from the organisation in question.

All applications to the programme are currently being evaluated against its assessment criteria, which are outlined in the guidelines, terms and conditions of the programme. I intend to announce the grant allocations for the programme as soon as possible after the assessment process has been completed. The Deputy should be aware that I may be actually visiting the Ballygar centre later this week while on official business in County Galway.
