Vol. 550 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

930 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science when permission will be given to the Blarney Community and Recreation Centre, Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Blarney, County Cork, to go to tender stage for their community and recreation centre at the school in view of the fact that documentation in relation to stages five and six is with his Department's design team. [9529/02]

My Department has approved in principle the provision of a PE hall with a floor area of 608m² plus ancillary accommodation at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Blarney, County Cork. The management authority of the school is proposing to build a larger hall and fund the extra cost. The stage four-five – detailed design and Bill of Quantities – submission for the project has been received and is currently being examined by officials of my Department.

The question of allowing the project to proceed to stage six – tender action and report – will be considered when this examination is completed and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible.
