Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Defence Forces.

Austin Currie

Ceist:

165 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Defence if, in relation to military personnel attending St. Bricin's Hospital, there is a restriction forbidding them from attending another hospital or seeking medical advice or treatment elsewhere; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9705/02]

There is no restriction placed on the right of military personnel attending St. Bricin's Hospital to seek medical advice or treatment elsewhere.

The cost of any such medical advice or treatment will not be met from the Defence Vote unless it has been requested by a medical officer and has been authorised by the appropriate authority in accordance with the provisions of ‘A' administrative instruction part 12 and the appropriate subhead management instructions.
