226 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Finance the plans his Department has to assist persons (details supplied) in County Wicklow regarding the serious problem which they have in regard to a family member; if there is funding available through the EU in regard to such cases; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9829/02]
My Department does not have any funds at its disposal to provide the assistance sought. Issues pertaining to Irish citizens abroad are, in the first instance, matters for consideration by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, though I am aware of the case to which the Deputy refers, I am not aware of the availability of EU funding for the type of situation involved.
