Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Board Property.

Jim Mitchell

Ceist:

261 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in issuing the final report of the working party on the future of the lands at Grangegorman, Dublin 7, currently in the ownership of the Eastern Regional Health Authority; when the report will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9874/02]

An interdepartmental ad hoc working group, chaired by the Department of the Taoiseach, was set up in May 2001, to examine and report on options for the future development of the Eastern Regional Health Authority lands at Grangegorman in Dublin city. Membership of the working group includes representatives of the Departments of the Taoiseach, Finance, Education and Science, Environment and Local Government, Public Enterprise, Health and Children, the Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin City Council and the ERHA. Its terms of reference include examining how the Grangegorman site can be best developed in meeting education and social service needs; the development of facilities for the Dublin Institute of Technology on site; the provision of health facilities for the Eastern Regional Health Authority; and the overall development of the site, including the financing of such a development.

The group has carried out an extensive and detailed study of the matter and it is expected that its report will be submitted to Government shortly. Given the range and complexity of the issues involved, it is not considered that there has been undue delay in bringing this report to Government.
