Ceist:341 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when work will commence on the construction of a new fire station in Freshford, County Kilkenny. [9753/02]
Written Answers. - Fire Stations.
I recently announced record capital funding of €19.568 million for the fire services programme in 2002. In addition to 13 new fire stations currently under construction, I am approving six further projects, including Kilkenny County Council's proposal for a new fire station at Callan, to proceed to construction stage this year.
In June 2001 I approved the design drawings and detailed cost plan submitted by the council for a new fire station at Freshford. Contract documents for the project were subsequently submitted by the council in November 2001 and are under consideration in my Department at present.
